NEWS UPDATE JULY 09

Racing Roundup
After his disastrous start from the barriers at his previous run Filter redeemed himself in Darwin with a narrow win on July 11th. Congratulations to Phil & Kim Brittain, Brian & Rosemary Fellows.
Murray Town Lass continues to race well and finished 2nd at Ballarat on July 30th.
Rue Maple showed them a clean pair of heels at Swan Hill on July 31st, winning by 4 lengths at her debut. Congratulations to the team at Bungan Street Thoroughbreds.
Keltara had shown plenty of promise in her work leading up to her first start in Adelaide but unfortunately got her tongue over the bit ruining her chances. She will be much improved on that run at her next start. Pins Of Joy, Savababe & Resolvere are all trialling at Ararat early in August and should all be ready to make their racing debut shortly after.

Our website was relaunched during July with a significant upgrade from the old site which had reached its end from a technical & functional perspective. The stable for members is still under development and should be completed by the end of August. It will feature one unique page for each horse which will be password protected for the relevant owners. Passwords will be issued once each page is live.
From Manningtree Park
July was again a busy month on the farm with our farriers tending to all horses on the property and vaccine boosters being administered all round. The first 2 broodmares have already left for the Hunter Valley in NSW to foal down and are to be covered by stallions Lionheart & Lohnro. Most of the horses have been rugged for the Winter/Spring months. The weanlings had a few tantrums when we first put on their new “jackets” but soon realised how lovely and warm they are! Our policy is not to charge you for the full purchase price of the rugs ($240) but a seasonal fee of $80 to help cover the purchase and repair costs. This has been charged this month.
Due to the mild weather the grass continues to grow although we are still needing more rain after such a dry July – we only recorded 16mm but the average is 52mm.
ATB Christmas Party
It’s back to Moonee Valley for our Christmas party this year. Just a preliminary notice to pencil in Friday December 18th for the night races – more details next month.
